Bergen orgelsommer - Bergen International Organ Festival - Karstein Askeland in St. Mary's Church
Karstein Askeland is Cantor of St. Mary's Church and Organ Consultant in Bergen. He previously served as Associate Professor at the Grieg Academy. An internationally active concert organist, he is celebrated for a wide-ranging repertoire, with particular emphasis on Johann Sebastian Bach, German Romanticism, Norwegian contemporary music, and other rarely performed works. His artistry is further documented through multiple CD recordings, reflecting both depth and curiosity in musical expression. St. Mary's Church is among Norway's most beautiful sacred spaces. The Weimbs organ from 2015 is shaped in perfect harmony with the church interior, where space and sound merge into a single, living whole.
